The ninth chapter starts out with Nick trying to get in touch with Daisy. When he calls her house though, he is told that they had left with no forwarding address. Nick tries to track down people to come to pay their respects, but he has a tough time. Nick meets Mr. Gatz, Gatsby's father. Mr. Gatz has his misconceptions about his son, he believed that if he had lived. he would have "built up the country". Gatsby bought is father his house which shows that he used is money for good, or at least good intentions. We realize that Nick only has one true friend, Nick. All these people take advantage of Gatsby for his parties and his money and when he dies they do not care enough to even come to his funeral. It is a terribly rainy day on the day of Gatsby's funeral. The only other person that came to the funeral was the man with the owl eyes. The reason i think he came is because he is the one who went to Gatsby's library and saw all of his books. He realized there was a real person in Gatsby, just like Nick. Later it is revealed to Nick by Tom that Tom is the one who to told Mr. Wilson that Gatsby was the one driving that care. Nick cant find it in himself to tell Tom that Daisy was driving the car. Nick says that Tom and Daisy are careless people and that they just let other people clean up there messes. The story ends with Nick looking at the green light that Gatsby looked at, the light at Daisy's house. IT ends with "Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter – to-morrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther…And one fine morning –
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

Chapter 8
Chapter 8 is the day after the hottest day of the year. Nick tells Gatsby that he should leave for awhile, but Gatsby thinks that daisy will be over soon to see him. One of Gatsby's servants tells him that he wants to drain the pool, and Gatsby tells him not to. This is another example of how Gatsby misses his chances to do something he wants, and then tries to do it before it's gone. This will lead him into death and bad outcomes every time. Nick leaves Gatsby's house saying "They're a rotten crowd, you're worth the whole damn bunch put together". This is the first time Nick really shows to Gatsby how much he likes him. This is interesting because Nick never approves of what Gatsby is doing the whole story, but Nick knows that he is a good man and is just lost. Everyone else in the story are bad people. Wilson, the man from the garage, reveals that he know that his wife has been having an affair. He finds a dog collar and the remembers seeing myrtle beaten and knows he did not do it. Wilson comes over to Gatsby's house thinking that he was the man cheating with his wife and that he was the man who killed her. He shoots Gatsby in the pool and then kills himself. Nick comes over later to find Gatsby dead.

Chapter 7
Chapter 7 starts with the hottest day of the year. Nick,
Gatsby, and Jordan all go over the Buchanan’s house. It is fitting that it is
the hottest day because this is the day where the tension releases, and the
sparks fly. This chapter is the climax of the novel. After Tom gets off the
phone with his mistress, Daisy sends him into the other room to make a drink.
After he leaves, she kisses Gatsby in front of everyone and declares that she
is in love with him. I think she does this to get revenge on Tom somehow. She
feels like she is getting back at him.
Her daughter shows up and Gatsby has a problem with it. The daughter
makes him realize that she has a rooted life with tom. If she just walked away
from it, it would be messy at the least. After a while, they decide to go to
the town. They stop by Wilson’s garage to get gas. Myrtle sees Tom in Gatsby’s
yellow car. They go to a hotel to decide what to do and that is where all the
drama came out. Gatsby waits for Daisy to say to tom that she never loved him.
When she does not, he says it. Daisy tell Gatsby he want too much, “I love you
now, isn’t that enough”? Daisy runs out and Gatsby follows. They take Gatsby’s
car and as the pass Wilson’s garage, Myrtle comes out thinking that it is Tom
again. We find out that Myrtle dies and Tom makes sure Wilson knows it was not
his car. Gatsby stays the night watching over the house. This shows that his is
clinging on to her even though Tom has won and Gatsby never had a chance.
